Popular Canadian artiste, The Weeknd has donated the sum of $1 million to the United Nations World Food Programme to help provide meals for 2 million people that have been displaced due to the Tigray crisis.
The Tigray region of Ethiopia has been decimated after the Ethiopian Prime Minister launched an attack against the TPLF rebels in the region who allegedly attacked the government led troops within the region.
Although the Prime Minister has now arrested top TPLF leaders and their known allies and had warned the locals to exit the region due to the impending doom, nothing would prepare the ordinary citizens for the mass destruction, loss of lives and property and ultimate breakdown in societal structure.
Many Tigayrans reportedly fled into Sudan and others Eritrea. Many also do dont forsee a source of livelihood in the nearest future The Prime Minister is now in the process of investigating the war crimes that occured during the crackdown and ultimately led to the displacement of over 1 million people.
