Adesua Etomi - We need to talk about Stigma associated with IVF

Adesua Etomi Wellington has come out to debunk all previous rumours you heard about her conception journey. While affirming that indeed, she had a miscarriage, it was of twins as both their heartbeats were lost during the course of the pregnancy.

A development she claimed she wailed for after laughing in hysteria at the hospital, she disclosed that many of the rumours that were circulated about her simply weren’t true. Mrs Wellington disclosed how many suggested that she was barren or Banky W impotent but disclosed that while she could have kept it moving she wants to take the opportunity to encourage other women in a similar predicament.

She shared her journey with IVF, a process she claims is very debilitating both mentally and emotionally especially with the rumours in circulation. Adesua also wants to fight the stigma that comes with assistive reproductory care in Nigeria. In her own words, she claims she finds it reprehensive that society can embrace medical assistance for other parts of the body except for the reproductory system. Read her statement below
