Tanzania's President, Samia Suhulu has revealed plans to adjust the nations media laws and has called on stakeholders to bring ideas on how to improve on the media sector.

Tanzania’s President, Samia Suhulu has revealed plans to adjust the nations media laws and has called on stakeholders to bring ideas on how to improve on the media sector.

In a statement relayed by the permanent secretary of information, Hassan Abbas which reads in part below, the government is willing to make positive and impactful changes to the industry

Bring those ideas so that what the government should do can do and what the media sector players can do…

“Where there are proposals that require the media policy or laws to be changed, the ministry is ready to work with you … We’ll discuss the policies so that we can work on them for the future of our economy and the whole concept of media freedom,” he said.

The newly elected President also allowed for media outlets who were once santioned and shut to resume operations.
