Seeking a better life in Europe is a Trap! - Nana Akufo Addo warns Africans!

President Nana Akufo Addo of Ghana has at a press conference urged all Africans not to fall for the trap of relocating abroad. He started by noting how it has become a frequent and even normal occurrence to hear of Africans drowning in terrestrial waters in a bid to seek a better life in European countries.

He shared his dismay that despite the fact that the continent is home to 50% of the world’s arable land and 30% of its total mineral resource that many were unable to find it bearable to stay but were listlessly seeking a life elsewhere by crossing the Sahara desert on foot.

Akufo-Addo in his speech shared the steps Ghana was putting in place such as the National Health Insurance Scheme, educating its youth till the secondary school amongst other opportunities.

He also made mention of the recently inaugurated AfCFTA which is supposed to spur trade across the continent and cover 1.3 billion people into a single market, the AfCFTA is the largest free trade bloc after the WTO and the continent is projected to cover 25% of the world’s working population in 2050.

He therefore urged Africans not to miss out on the business opportunities that would be necessary to link up the entire markets more effectively, including manufacturing and the growth opportunities that abound.
