Six years after conducting an election that ushered in the current administration, former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Professor Attahiru Jega, says governance has failed and he advocated a change.

Jega alongside Human Rights Lawyer, Femi Falana, were speaking on labour and the quest for Nigeria’s national development at an event in honour of Professor Omotayo Olorode.

Professor Jega was concerned about the senseless killings, abduction of citizens especially students, increasing criminality, banditry, corruption, and poor leadership, which he said has undermined governance in the last couple of years.

His position was further buttressed by Human Rights Lawyer, Falana, and Professor Member Genye.

For Professor Omotayo Olorode, the unfulfilled desire of the labour movement to achieve good governance which it has campaigned for over the years remains a pain in the neck.

While Professor Olorode pushed for tactical change in economic policies to better the lot of the common man, he also sued for more peaceful coexistence among Nigerians.
