Sanwo-Olu catches criminals in the act

Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, arrested a gang of suspected criminals who assaulted motorists and other road users in traffic on Monday. The suspects were apprehended on Monday morning while attempting to terrorize a driver in the Ojota-bound Alausa area.

The motorist, however, received assistance when Governor Sanwo-entourage Olu’s arrived on the scene to rescue him from three thugs who held machetes who were attempting to drag him out of his vehicle.

The Governor’s security team descended on the culprits, retrieved the lethal weapons from them, and detained all three. 104 motorcycles were also seized by the state’s Environmental and Special Offenses Unit for allegedly riding on forbidden routes.

The motorcycles were seized in the state’s Second Rainbow, Amuwo Odofin, Cele Bus Stop, and Okota regions, according to the agency.

According to a statement from the Public Affairs Officer (PAO), Femi Moliki, the mission was led by the agency’s chairman, CSP Shola Jejeloye, and was aimed at preventing motorcyclists from misusing traffic laws.

He stated that the government was worried about motorcyclists’ risky behavior on restricted roads and that it had become imperative to assist the bikers by preserving their lives as well as the lives of other pedestrians.
