Nigerians have been tasked to see the fight against corruption as a collective responsibility if the country is to win this war headlong.

The Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS, Muhammad Babandede, said this in Jos, the Plateau State capital, at a forum to sensitise immigration officers on the need to put up a positive attitude in carrying out their duties.

As corruption continues to eat deep into most facets of the nation, several efforts to address the problem seem to yield little results.

All hope is not lost, however, as individuals and organizations create forums to sensitise stakeholders on the need to commit to reducing the menace.

For the NIS, the fight against corruption is from top to bottom if it must deliver efficient and quality service to Nigerians.

The Comptroller General of the Service, Babandede, who spoke through a video call, said the service is not relenting in its efforts at ensuring that it fishes out people who mean the organization no good.

Other speakers at the forum said that until Nigerians embrace attitudinal change fighting corruption may just be a mere wish.

The theme for the sensitization tagged “Zero Tolerance Approach to Corruption: A Pathway to Quality Service Delivery and Attitudinal Change is aimed at encouraging officers and men of the service to stand against all forms of corruption in the discharge of their duty.
