Port Harcourt Residents Trek Endlessly As Commercial Drivers Protest Member’s Killing

There have been massive trekking by passengers in Port Harcourt due to commercial motorists protest over the killing of one of their members that was allegedly shot and killed by Rivers State Government Task Force officials and the vandalisation of commercial vehicles by security operatives.

The aggrieved commercial motorists who gave insight on how one of their members named Christian Odeni from Kogi State was gunned down by officials of the Task Force and also the destruction of commercial vehicles by security personnel lamented that they will continue to withhold their transportation services from commuters until justice was served.

One of the relatives of the killed commercial motorist who narrated what transpired said the traditional marriage of the late driver was supposed to be next week.

Some of the passengers who have trekked for hours as a result of the protest narrated their ordeals and called for the state government’s intervention.

At Obiri Ikwerre Junction down to NTA and Ada George axis of Port Harcourt was worse hit as any commercial motorist or tricycle operative who tried to convey passengers got the tyres of his vehicle deflected and harassed by their angry colleagues.
