Pope Francis' Colon Surgery went successfully - Vatican

The Vatican spokesperson, Matteo Bruni has disclosed that the surgical procedure Pope Francis underwent was successful and that the Pope is now recovering well on bed rest.

Pope Francis was admitted at the Gemelli Hospital for a scheduled surgery for diverticular stenosis of the colon carried out by a 10-person medical team. The condition leads to symptoms such as bloating, painful bowel movements and is more common in adults.

Despite the Pope’s frail disposition, it is the first time the 84-year-old would be admitted since he assumed his position in 2013.
