A Cross River State High Court has issued an interim injunction restraining embattled national chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Uche Secondus, from resuming office as national chairman.

This is coming after Secondus obtained an order from a High Court in Birnin Kebbi purportedly reinstating him to office following his suspension by a Rivers High Court.

The latest order from the Cross River State High Court issued on Friday ruled that Secondus is barred from presiding over the National Executive Committee meeting of the party holding this Saturday or any other meeting of the party or functions of the party in the capacity of the national chairman.

The order which is contained in an application made by one Enang Wani, a member of the party, also bars Secondus from presenting himself for re-election as national chairman of the party. He is also restrained from parading himself in that capacity.

Justice Edem Koofreh who issued the order also restrained the PDP, listed as the second defendant/respondent in the application form, giving any recognition to Secondus as national chairman and from according to him any powers, rights, or privileges of the office of the national chairman.

All the orders are to stay in place pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice pending before the court.

Meanwhile, the judge had ordered service of the originating summons by substituted means on Secondus and the PDP. The summon is to be pasted on the national secretariat of the party at Wadata House in Abuja.
