Doctors in Plateau State, North Central Nigeria have raised concern over the emergence situation across government hospitals in the state following recent attacks and killings.

Hospital wards and mortuaries in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State have been populated with injured persons and corpses of victims of the armed attacks in the council.

For over one month now, Plateau has been in turmoil of clashes and killings between locals and alleged Fulanis, with the latest attack being the Yelwan Zangam incident, which occurred on Tuesday, and claimed many lives, leaving several others injured and in critical condition thereby increasing hospital emergency at the Plateau Specialist Hospital.

The Plateau State chapter of the Medical Association of Nigeria, while appealing to striking residents doctors in the state to reconsider the situation on the ground, said government hospitals could no longer cope with the victims’ demands.

Another concern is the blood shortage for wounded victims of the attacks undergoing treatments at various hospitals.

While efforts are being made to treat those wounded during the attacks, residents want the government to match a word with action in doing all it takes to end the incessant attacks and killings and restore total peace in a state that prides itself as the home of peace and tourism.
