One of the police officers who were severley injured in the US Capitol attacks has been confirmed dead while the other remains in critical condition.
The officer identified as William F. Evans was severely injured after a car rammed into the barricade around 1 pm. The assailant, a 25-year-old Noah Green came out of the unknown vehicle and was shot at multiple times.
Evans was an 18-year long serving officer and was a part of the first responders unit. The US President Joe Biden expressed regrets over the unfortunate incident on behalf of his wife and himself.
The US Capitol building is now under surveillance and has been shut from entry or exit.
This is the second time in a short period the US Capitol would be attacked.
