Doctors have a new challenge on their hands when it comes to identifying patients, as mixing up gender and sex is a new source of concern. 

They have now advised that becuase sex differences in drug metabolism significantly impacts how a person engages in treatment, sex and genders should be recorded in separate medical records

A growing number of research authors are beginning to specify that sex and gender are not synonymous although they used to be before. While sex refers to biology, gender now related to societal roles, behaviour and expectations.

The danger of medical practitioners mixing up sex and gender could lead to the wrong treatment for patients as both underly very high risk factors and affect every organ.
