#OccupyLekkiTollGate

An interesting turn of events indeed is the best way to describe the renewed sentiments from the aftermath of the #ENDSARS movement.

To counter the #OccupyLekkiTollGate motive which went viral yesterday with over 120,000 tweets, a new sect has shown up with a #DefendLagos and dares anyone to show up at the toll on the same date with the #DemNoBornYourPapaWell!

The story gets interesting because for those who decide to occupy and the others who choose to defend (although we’re not sure what the defence is really about) it appears quite a number of youths have made it a date to be at the LekkiToll for Saturday the 13th of February 2021.

Others have also put a lucky spin on it, claiming the idea behind the #DefendLagos is to attack Igbo Businesses, while some #OccupyLekkiTollGate has taken the opportunity to advise youths who they are certain to have been mobilised financially to distort the protest at the toll, others have taken the opportunity to thank the ‘defenders’ who will be protecting them as they peacefully protest.

It remains public knowledge that the protests at the toll and across the country were largely peaceful and marred by the police brutality that the youths protested against in the first place, however, one thing remains clear, whilst some move to #OccupyLekkiTollGate and others appear to #DefendLagos, the toll gate repossession seems to have murky days ahead as Nigerian Youths struggle to find the unity that once held the #ENDSARS protest together.
