Brownie Samukai, Liberia’s former Defence Minister has been ordered by a Supreme Court to return $1.2 billion of misused Soldiers Pension funds.

The court ruled that Samukai and two of his subordinates unlawfully used the money for unintended purposes and should return the funds or face 2 years in jail.

The trio had argued that the funds were administered based on direct orders of former Liberian leader, President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf,

However, the court maintained some mischief was found in how the funds were spent and gave an ultimatum of a year t reimburse the full amount or resign to languishing in jail.
