The Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Makurdi branch has expressed disappointment over the handling of the reported assault on its Chairman by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, early June.
State Chairman, Justin Gbagir, who was the victim is more concerned after his long-awaited meeting with the agency’s Chairman which did not yield the desired result and has left him battling with a complicated eye condition induced by the said assault.
The assault of Justin Gbajir, the current Chairman of the NBA Makurdi branch, by some operatives of the Makurdi Zonal office of the EFCC on Thursday, June 8, has continued to generate quite a stir.
Well over a month after the unfortunate altercation, authorities of the Commission are yet to take any form of responsibility even as the NBA Chairman moved from hospital to hospital to try to get the right medical attention.
When contacted for an update over the issue, the Commission’s spokesman said the EFCC Chairman had later met with the victim but behind closed doors.
Gbajir, who had called for the dismissal of the Zonal Commander and other compensations, said that he would, however, wait for NBA National executives’ response before his next line of action.
