The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has described as fake, media reports stating of its plans to cancel the November 6, Anambra governorship election.
In an interview with reporters, the Commission’s National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voters Education Committee, Festus Okoye, citing Section 26 sub 1 of the 2015 Electoral Act as amended noted that the Commission has no right to cancel an election and in the case of Anambra State the governorship election will hold as planned.
The Commission, however, asked prospective voters in the state not to exercise any form of fear, as the INEC is poised on conducting a free and fair exercise in Anambra State.
