The legal team of Sheikh Zakzaky headed by Femi Falana revealed that the sitting aims to entertain a motion seeking legal permission to travel abroad for medical attention.

He stated that they presented their application and attached with it a medical report, saying they also replied to the questions filed by the government’s counsels.

He said they are pleading with the government to grant them their request because the persons they are representing could die if urgent steps are not taken. He also said that even the lawyers representing the government have not disputed their application.

In addition, Femi Falana (SAN) added that the medical practitioners who examined El-Zakzaky were foreigners although assisted by Nigerian DOctors and the findings of the examination was not challenged and also that currently there is no single hospital in Nigeria that can fully address El-Zakzaky’s ailments.

Falana has added that their finding concluded that the accused are being fed with poisonous food, saying it is only the DSS that can explain their reason for feeding them this way. He called on the court to free them from the DSS so that they could not end up dying in detention.

He also reportedly said that Professor Bwala included in his report that their teeth are turning black as a result of incessant consumption of poison-infested food. Which he inferred was the reason that paralyzes their bodies. They even risked losing their lives altogether.

Falana added that it is necessary to medically look after the accused no matter the gravity of what they are being accused of. He said they must jet out to New Delhi where competent doctors abound, unlike Nigeria where doctors lack state-of-the-art equipment.
