After the back and forth at today’s court proceedings on whether El-Zakzaky should be granted legal permission to address his precarious health circumstances, the presiding Judge Kurada adjourned the case till Monday Next Week.
The Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana argued that there currently exists no unequivocal statement within Nigeria’s constitution that prevents a citizen from travelling outside the country to receive medical attention.
He also cited that the President has taken advantage of this privilege multiple times and as such the Sheik should be allowed such bail so he could account for his crimes in a better frame of health as a dead man cannot do that.
The Judge finally concluded by saying that despite listening to both arguments, he would play fair and the decision would be taken on Monday as he had several cases to deal with.
He also mentioned that Monday, Judges will embark on annual leave hence why the case had to be adjourned to allow for him decide appropriately on the application.
