The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Plateau State has condemned in strong terms recent killings on the state and calls on Christians to be vigilant and defend themselves when the need arises.
The Association made this known at a press briefing in Jos, the state capital, on the state of the nation.
The CAN said that it has watched with keen interest recent development in the state where many innocent citizens lost their lives no thanks to as usually suspected herdsmen.
Chairman of Association in Plateau State, Very Rev Father Polycarp Lubo, said it is high time Christians rose up to defend themselves as government at all levels can no longer guarantee the safety of lives and property.
The Chairman also reacted to a statement credited to the state police command that the attack on the Dong community was a reprisal.
The Association challenged the government to take charge and protect Nigerians who voted them into office.
