The Federal Government has in an announcement just today, declared that all the $320 million recovered from Gen. Sani Abacha will be channelled towards supporting the less privileged.
Yemi Osinbajo, the Vice President of Nigeria, representing the President at the Annual Commonwealth conference of Anti-Corruption Agencies, declared that it was one of the many conditions given for the repatriation of the funds.
The Global Forum on Asset Recovery witnessed the signing of the MoU to facilitate the return of the funds to Nigeria. Included in the document, is for the funds to be used to implement Nigeria’s pilot social-investment programmes towards the poorest and least privileged amongst Nigerians.
