Zamfara State Governor, Bello Mohammed, says he still believes that the peace dialogue is one of the effective strategies to address the long years of violent conflict between the Fulanis and the Hausa communities in the state.

The Governor said this during a statewide broadcast arising from the resolutions of an emergency security meeting with heads of security agencies, traditional rulers, and Ulamas to review the measures to tame insecurity in the affected communities across the state.

The emergency security meeting was convened by the Governor last Monday against the backdrop of the resurgence of attacks, killings, and abduction of innocent citizens in the state.

Governor Mohammed noted that when his administration came on board, it introduced the peace initiative, which brought peace for some months, and secured the unconditional release of kidnap victims.

But until politicians and conflict entrepreneurs started to sabotage the efforts of the state government which led to the dramatic turn of the security situation in the state.

He said the security agencies had given their assurances to the public of their commitment to protect life and property as well as respond promptly to distress calls, put across to them, by members of the communities, suffering from bandits’ attacks.

The Governor enjoined residents of the state to cooperate and support the security agencies through prayers, volunteer credible intelligence, and appreciate the monumental sacrifices they are making to fight banditry in the state.
