Following the gruesome attack that claimed a woman, all four of her kids, and four other people in the Yelwata Guma Local Government Area of Benue State, residents are calling for improved security to avert a recurrence.

State Police Public Relations Officer, Sewuese Anene, confirmed that additional security has been deployed to the affected community, an effort she said will be sustained.

Residents of Yelwata Guma Local Council of Benue State, a border town with Nassarawa, are on the run following the gruesome attack which claimed lives and injured others.

According to the residents, the family of Peter Akera was worse hit as his wife and all four of his children were not spared.

The border town which shares a boundary with Nassarawa State which allows for open grazing for livestock has left them perpetually at risk of attacks from the suspected herders hence the desperate call for more security.

Prior to this time, the state government along with residents resolved to set up volunteer guards to defend themselves and complement the efforts of security but unfortunately, again Peter and the entire Yelwata community have been caught completely off and sadly his entire family did not stand a chance.
