YouTube has confirmed its suspension of Pastor T.B Joshua’s channel after openDemocracy, a UK based rights body filed a complaint about seven of the preacher’s videos showed him conducting prayers to cure gay people.
Pastor TB Joshua is one of Nigeria’s most controversial pastors, known globally and highly sought after for his miraculous feats.
A company spokesperson claimed the channel violated one of its policies which prohibits content that alleges a person is ill, mentally or any otherwise because of their membership in a protected group such as one involving their sexual orientation.
In the said video, TB Joshua reportedly prays for a woman to stop having affection for the same sex and heals her, she later testifies in a later video. The video was viewed 1.5 million times before it was taken down by YouTube.
A statement released by the church disclosed plans to contest the decision.
