World Population Day is celebrated annually on July 11th and its aim is to create awareness on population issues faced by overpopulation around the globe. The event was established in 1989 by the Governing Council of the United Nations Development Program.

World Population Day is being observed yearly in order to sensitize people all over the world on the effects of overpopulation and the harm it can bring to the ecosystem and human progress.

There are 7.9 billion people in the world right now, with China leading in the World’s largest population 1,442,857,138 followed by India second largest with a number of 1,388,712,570.

This theme explains how the Covid-19 pandemic has affected the sexual and reproductive health and behavior of people around the globe. The United Nations Organization is in charge of organizing it.

The issue of population is wide as it covers the need for family planning, gender equality, and the impact of environmental health on humanity.
