An Israel-based NSO group recently developed a software capable of completely taking over a mobile device by taking advantage of the calling functionality on the WhatsApp platform whether the user picks the call or not.

The vulnerabiltiy was recently discovered early May and the WhatsApp team has rolled out an urgent update to override this error. With an estimated 1.5 billion users, it is a huge vulnerabilty which has the potential to become a potential mayhem.

No one is exempted as both iOs, Windows and Android phones are equally potential victims. WhatsApp has therefore urged all users to upgrade to the latest versions to prevent against targeted efforts.
