Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hinted he will keep Manchester United’s top youngsters at Old Trafford next term rather than loaning them out.
United have a rich history of producing homegrown talent and the Norwegian has already handed senior debuts to Tahith Chong, James Garner,
The Red Devils will play in the Europa League next term after failing to finish in the top four this season, with Solskjaer seeing Europe’s second-tier competition as an ideal opportunity to give some of his young players first-team experience.
While not ruling out sending players out on loan, Solskjaer believes they could benefit from staying under his stewardship and learning from some of “the best players in the world”.
“I have to say it’s nice for them to get a full season somewhere and play but, then again, maybe the best place to be is here, training with the best players in the world,” he told MUTV.
”In this environment, we’ve got a history of making them [young players] the best but we’ve got loads of good experiences of players being out for a year and coming back as men.
“Let’s see what we decide with these boys but I can see most staying here and getting their chances next year.”
Solskjaer will oversee his first pre-season at the club having succeeded Jose Mourinho in December.
Despite an initial upturn in results, United went on a horror run after Solskjaer was confirmed as permanent boss, culminating in a 2-0 home defeat to already-relegated Cardiff on the final day.
