The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Benin, Uniben, Professor Lillian Salami, has bowed to pressure from the students of the institution by removing the additional 20, 000 Naira as charges for late payment of school fees.
The Vice-Chancellor disclosed this while addressing the protesting students who also blocked the Benin/ Lagos expressway by the school main gate for day two of the protests on Wednesday.
The students were not only calling for the removal of the additional 20,000 Naira to their tuition fee by the institution management but also calling for the sack of the Vice-Chancellor.
After several hours on the road on day two of the protest, the Vice-Chancellor bowed to the pressure of the students.
While addressing the large crowd of Uniben students at the school main gate, Professor Salami said the additional 20,000 Naira for late payment has been removed and no student will be victimized for embarking on the protests among other demands of the students.
The elated students who demanded an apology from their Vice-Chancellor said the reversal is a victory to all Uniben students.
