Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas has signed a joint declaration condemning Russia’s invasion of Ukraine with the country’s President during a visit to the north-western city of Zhytomyr.

Kallas supported Kyiv’s calls for accession to NATO.

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg had said that Ukraine’s rightful place was in the military alliance but did not say when it might be able to join.

Russia has said weapons supplies to Ukraine by NATO countries are dragging the conflict and raising the possibility of further escalation. It regards Ukrainian accession to NATO as a threat to its own security.
