The National Association of Resident Doctors in Taraba State has called off a strike action embarked in December, in agitation for better welfare for members.

The doctors also called for the immortalization of one of its members who died from Covid-19 and Lassa Fever complications during the period of the strike action.

A total of 28 health workers in Taraba State have contracted the dreaded Covid-19 virus in the line of duty.

Doctor Ameh Eneojo did not survive the complications of the disease, as his case was coupled with Lassa Fever.

Covid-19 inducement welfare package, personal protective equipment for health workers, and additional manpower in the state’s health sector were some of the demands of the striking doctors.

The Chairman of the National Association of Resident Doctors in Taraba State, Gabriel Uba, announced the call off of the strike action, after the state government met some of their demands.

They are also asking for the immortalization of doctor Ameh Eneojo, who has paid the supreme price.

The doctors also commended the role played by Governor Darius Ishaku to ensure that the strike is suspended.

They also urged the state government to set up an infectious disease diagnostic and treatment center, particularly Lassa Fever, which has claimed the lives of health and non-health workers in the state.
