Leaders of the organized labour in Edo State have expressed regret over the suspension of the planned strike action and protest over hike in electricity tariff and fuel price.

They said the suspension is not in line with their resolve for a better life for Nigerians.

The Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, and the Trade Union Congress, TUC’s planned strike action and protest to demand reversal in increased fuel pump price and electricity tariff scheduled for Monday was Sunday midnight suspended after long deliberations with the Federal Government.

Though it was agreed that the cost hike of the electricity tariff is suspended, the leadership of the organized labour in Edo state still carried on with their planned protest saying that the outcome of the meeting by its national leaders was not in the interest of their resolve to fight for a better life for Nigerians.

Noting the effects of the fuel hike increase on Nigerians, the labour leaders said they have resolved to review their decision to suspend the strike in another two weeks but will not renege on their decision to force a reversal in high fuel price.

The organized labour, however, is expecting a favorable outcome from the Federal Government in their next meeting in tune with the yearnings for a better life for Nigerians.
