Up until last week, Italy was the ground zero for the COVID 19 virus outbreak in Europe with the highest number of confirmed cases of the virus and the highest death toll.

Now, Spain has taken over Italy in the number of confirmed cases of the virus but Italy still takes the lead on the highest number of deaths.

As of Monday, 6th of April, Spain has 130,759 confirmed cases of the COVID 19 virus with a total of 12,418 confirmed deaths and 674 new deaths and Italy with 128,948 confirmed cases of the COVID 19 virus with a total of 15,889 confirmed deaths and 527 new deaths.

Mid-March, Spain announced a nationwide lockdown and banned most businesses from operating. Statistics show that since the lockdown began in Spain about 898,822 people have lost their jobs and Spain’s population of the unemployed has risen 3.5 million people.
Worldwide, about 1,359,010 cases of the COVID 19 virus has been recorded with a death toll of about 75,906.

Presently, the United States of America has the fastest and highest number of COVID 19 cases in the world, the number of cases soared sky high within the last three weeks to 307,318 confirmed cases of the virus within the country and New York with the highest confirmed case of the virus with the country.
