The Nigeria government announced that they will be injecting a stimulus package into the vulnerable and poor societies in the Nigerian economy. The initiative has been made under the Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) which began on Monday.

This initiative has begun in Cross River state, Adamawa state, Kwara state and Plateau state.
The government reported that the sum of ₦235.9 million was injected into Cross River’s economy. The sum of ₦20,000 was reportedly shared among 11,995 families living in poor conditions within the state across 18 local government areas.

According to Mr Abdullahi Zakaria, a Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) official, said that that the government injected the sum of ₦339.4 million into Adamawa’s economy, distributing the sum of ₦20,000 to 16,971 families living in poverty within the state to relieve their financial strain.

The sum of ₦500 million was reportedly distributed in Kwara state to financially vulnerable families living within the state by the state governor, Abdul Rahman AbdulRazaq.
Plateau state reportedly got the sum of N1.2 billion for the distribution of ₦20,000 to ₦60,000 financially vulnerable families.

Dr Sumaye Hamza, the special adviser to the Plateau state governor on National Social Investment Programme, described the CCT incentive as successful and commendable and he noted that the state was thankful to President Buhari.

The stimulus package was injected into the economy to relieve the financial burden on people during this lockdown period due to the rapid spread of the COVID 19 virus so that these families who cannot work and support themselves during this period will have the chance of survival.
