Shahid Khan withdraws offer to buy Wembley Stadium

The English Football Association has confirmed that Fulham owner, Shahid Khan has withdrawn his offer to buy the Wembley Stadium.

The Pakistani-American Billionaire who also owns NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars, had offered £600m to buy the iconic stadium and its grounds, with the FA Council, set to vote on the sale next week but the deal is now off.

The deal was meant to provide funds that will improve grass-roots football and facilities across England.

The FA’s Chief Executive, Martin Glenn said:

At a recent meeting with Mr Khan he expressed to us that, without stronger support from within the game, his offer is being seen as more divisive than it was anticipated to be, and has decided to withdraw his proposal… and we fully respect his decision.
