Scottish Minister bans travel between Scotland and UK to prevent new COVID-19 strain

The Scottish First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon has announced that all travel by air between the United Kingdom and Scotland will be suspended for three weeks.

This development comes after a new strain of the Coronavirus, 70% more transmisible was discovered in the UK. The heightened measures will begin midnight on Boxing Day.

In addition, easing of the lockdowns will be limited to only Christmas Day to prevent further spread as the second wave gains momentum.
