Scientists reveal 'Rare Paralysis Effect' of AstraZeneca Vaccine

A neurological disorder, the Guillain-Barre syndrome has been found to be a possible but rare side effect of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine according to reports from the European Medicines Agency.

The condition which could lead to temporary paralysis and difficulty in breathing was considered a reasonable possibility. The condition has already affected 833 persons who have reported such side effects from taking the shots.

The EMA has now advised that a warning label should be added to the vaccine vials so that those facing such symptoms can seek medical attention.

The COVID-19 vaccines were created in a fraction of the time it usually takes to create vaccines for other endemic illnesses due to the urgency of the pandemic and has now been widely administered without full insights into its side effects are now being studied based on user feedback.

While many are enthusiastic about taking the vaccines, many others are reluctant and have expressed some reservations on the possible, long-term side effects the vaccines could pose. Some governments are, however, looking to make getting the shots a requirement for workers in their countries.

Choosing to get the vaccine or not, is becoming a human right’s legal concern as many who choose not to are seen as non-conformists.
