mobile app to detect tuberculosis

Scientists at the Anglia Ruskin University and University Putra in Malaysia have created a Mobile Phone System with an estimated 98% accuracy in detecting tuberculosis.

Tuberculosis is currently the World’s leading disease according to the WHO (World Health Organization) and majorly from low-income Countries with poor access to healthcare facilities.

The app works by detecting TB-Specific antibodies from a sample of sputum on a tiny biosensor which changes in color to indicate if the patient tests positive or negative to the ailment within seconds.

The app is expected to be made available within the next 2 years.
