Samir Ghanem, Egypt’s celebrated comedian and actor has passed away at 84 from COVID-19 complications.
Ghanem was admitted in April after being diagnosed with COVID-19 in Cairo and remained at the hospital until he passed away yesterday.
His wife, Dalal Abdel Aziz is also on admission and receiving treatment for the same illness.
His two daughters, Donia and Amy are also actresses.
Egypt’s Minister of Culture, Ines Abdel Dayem mourned his passing by saying the whole Arab world had lost a comic icon who filled lives daily with joy.
