Aliman Ion

In what can be termed as an anomaly, residents from a village, Deveselu in Romania have re-elected their mayor, Aliman Ion, who has passed away to COVID-19 in a landslide victory to serve a third term as Mayor.

The mayor, Aliman Ion unfortunately passed away 10 days to the scheduled elections and thus it was too late to remove his name from the ballots. Ion would have turned 57th on the election date.

Aliman was a member of the Social Democratic Party along with his Deputy, Nicolae Dobre who also coincidentally voted for him. Aliman secured a total of 1,057 votes out of a possible 1,600
