The current insecurity being witnessed in some parts of Plateau State especially in Riyom and Bassa Local Government Areas has continued to raise serious concerns as to the capacity of the security agents in tackling the situation and the government’s commitment to protecting the lives and property of its citizens.

Some activists who spoke to reporters in Jos said the most worrisome is the fact that government seems to pay deaf ears and turns a blind eye to the plight of helpless citizens.

The fragile peace being enjoyed in Plateau State has again been punctured, this time the unabated attacks and killings of locals in Riyom and Bassa Local Government Areas respectively.

The respondents were even more worried that the Irigwe Chiefdom that has come under severe attack is a stone throw from the Maxwell Khobe cantonment which is the Headquarters of the 3 division of the Nigerian Army leaves much to be desired and something urgent must be done to reverse this trend.

Another area of concern is that of food security and the need for government to arrest and prosecute perpetrators

They equally called on all citizens to unite and for government at all levels to have a humane face to the wanton killings in some parts of the country.

It is hoped that stakeholders will put aside political differences and promote peaceful coexistence in the country.
