Following an independent inquiry that showed that a British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) journalist, Martin Bashir falsified documents to gain an interview with Princess Diana, both Prince William and his brother, Harry have condemned the act.

Although the BBC had apologized at the time, the journalist wasn’t effectively probed at the time, and it also cleared Bashir of any wrongdoings at the time and the new development relished what both brothers had been trying so hard to get past.

Prince William shared that the deceitful way the interview was obtained influenced what his mother revealed on air and was a huge contribution to a breakdown of the relationship between his parents.

He claims the interview also contributed hugely to her feelings of fear, paranoia, and isolation towards the latter part of her life.

Harry, on the other hand, lauded the enquiry report as the first step towards justice and truth while assenting that indeed, the interview may have pushed his mother to her death. In his words, Harry claims that the ripple effect of a culture of exploitation and unethical practices ultimately took her life.

The interview was watched by 22.8 million people globally breaking records and won several television awards.
