Police re-arrest bandits’ informant in Katsina state

A suspected 35-year-old Suleiman Ibrahim alleged to be a notorious kidnapper, bandits’ informant, and who is presently on bail, is in the Katsina State Police net for abducting three sons of the Deputy Provost of the Isa Kaita College of Education in Dutsinma Local Government Area of Katsina State, Dr Ismaila Ado, since September 7.

Ibrahim who was paraded alongside 12 other suspected criminals for various offences is said to also be part of the gang that abducted the Managing Director of the Sokoto Rima Basin in Katsina, Labaran Dandume, on July 2, where the sum of seven million Naira ransom was paid before he regained freedom.

The 35-year-old Ibrahim, according to the spokesman of the police, Superintendent Gambo Isah, is still standing trial at the High Court in Katsina State, and is currently on bail, as a result of his arrest, in respect of a similar crime committed sometimes ago.

The suspect confessed that he is currently on bail for a similar crime he committed some time ago, saying, he was invited.

He said he got 50,000 Naira from the proceeds of the two abductions he partook in.

Ibrahim hinted that the Managing Director of the Sokoto Rima Basin was indeed released after they collected seven million Naira ransom, he could not tell exactly the whereabouts of the abducted three sons of the Deputy Provost of the Isa Kaita College of Education in Dutsinma Local Government Area.

He said as soon as the ransom of the abducted Sokoto Rima Basin Managing Director was paid, he left the two-man syndicate, though, he had two AK 47 rifles in his possession.

While pleading with the police to temper justice with mercy, he promised to assist the police to arrest the two fleeing bandits and to rescue the three sons of the Deputy Provost of the Isa Kaita College of Education, abducted since September 7.

Isah said the suspect will be charged to court at the end of the investigations.
