Ondo State has recorded its first death of Coronavirus.

The State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, confirmed this on Monday during the weekly briefing on Coronavirus.

Governor Akeredolu, while addressing reporters, said the victim, who was already receiving treatment at the state’s Infectious Disease Hospital, had an underlying challenge of renal failure which worsened his case and led to his death.

Akeredolu, who further lamented the porous nature of the state borders, said the victim allegedly sneaked into the state from Lagos State in April 2020.

On the three other suspected killers of Funke Olakunri who have twice tested negative for COVID-19, the Governor ordered that they should be returned to the correctional centre for the continuation of their trial.

Ondo State now has 16 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with nine active cases, six discharged, and one death.
