A former President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo, has advised the youths of Nigeria to engage in politics nationally before thinking of it globally.

The former President of Nigeria said that youth engagement is needed to be able to change things.

“The engagement of youths should start from home; charity begins at home. There should be local, national, regional participation before they think of Global participation.

“The United Nations Education Scientific and Cultural Organization, UNESCO, emphasized the need for education; youths should be educated to make impacts in their society, the nation, and international at large.

“The youths need to form their political party, fund it, run it, and take over. The youths can take over the health sector, health is wealth, as they say, they can create awareness about health in the educational sector and enlighten people on how they can manage their health effectively.

“The youths are mostly discouraged by themselves, they should realize that no one can give you change on a platter of gold, they have to go out there, fight for it, and take it. Youths should not be so ambitious; they do not think nationally, they think personally and ethnically.

“They have to be prepared and get their acts together. While the Nigerian youths are taking over, they should also understand they need the experience of the old men, ask questions know why and how things were done the way they were.”
