Muhammadu Abba has been arrested in Katsina for stealing shoes after a fire incident at the central market. His wife reported him to the police after uncovering the stolen shoes hid in their bedroom.
Muhammadu is well known in his community as an Islamic teacher in the Islamiyah school. He alongside 34 others were arraigned for taking advantage of the dire situation. Several hundreds of shops were burnt to the ground in the razing fire.
When asked why he carried out those acts, he claimed to have believed they were lost property.
