The National Malaria Elimination Program, NMEP, has stated that Nigeria recorded lower cases of fever and malaria infections in 2020.

The National Coordinator of the program, Audu Muhammed, stated this during its second bi-annual media chat with reporters in Abuja.

Muhammed noted that the figures recorded were as a result of fewer Out Patient Department, OPD, treatment as citizens resorted to self-medication due to fear of being tested for Coronavirus.

The media chat, themed ‘Delivering Malaria Interventions in the Context of Covid-19, sought to bring the public up to speed on how NMEP fared during the peak of the COVID 19 pandemic.
