The Commissioner for Education in Niger State, Hannatu Salihu, and the Director-General, Private Schools Board have been summoned by members of the State House of Assembly to appear before them to explain why private schools are charging parents of students of Senior School Certificate Examinations huge sum of money.

This is following a motion moved by the member representing Agwara Constituency, Bello Agwara.

He expressed concern on why the management of the schools charge between 250, 000 Naira to 300, 000 Naira for the West African Examinations Council, WAEC, and National Examinations Council, NECO, examinations.

He expressed shock after finding out that the charge for the WAEC is 15, 000 Naira, while the charge for the NECO is 11, 000 Naira.

The members of the State Assembly resolved not to allow private schools to exploit parents with exorbitant school fees as well as WAEC and NECO fees.
