The new Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Yakubu Sanda, has suspended embattled Speaker, Ayuba Abok, and and other members.
Those suspended are Hon Nuhu Abok Ayuba – Jos East, Hon Henry Longs – Pankshine South, Hon Dangtong Timothy – Riyom, Hon Musa Agah – Rukuba/Iregwe, Hon Bala Fwanje – Mangu South and Hon Nambol Listic – Langtang North.
In an emergency press briefing on Monday evening, Sanda alongside 12 other members warned Abok to stop parading himself as the Speaker of the 9th Assembly.
Sanda who expressed anger over the happenings at the premises of the House on Monday said two separate committees have been set up by the House to investigate the impeached Speaker’s alleged financial misappropriation while calling on the security agencies to take charge of the House and ensure that the suspended members are not allowed access to the Assembly Complex.
The new Speaker futher stated that the House will reconvene for proper sitting on Tuesday, November 2, 2021.
