Gombe State uncovers 781 ghost workers, Saves ₦50.6m

Gombe State Government has announced the suspension of 781 number of staff for failing to be captured in the month of September, saving 50.6 million Naira.

According to the state Commissioner of Finance, Muhammad Magaji, the state has been using Integrated Payroll Payment Gateway and Human Resource Information Management System designed to save the state from high cost of governance thereby, reducing ghost workers.

Disclosing this during a joint briefing, the Commissioner for Finance, Head of Service, labour representative and the biometric consultant, revealed that a total number of 781 staff would not receive salaries in October.

The Commissioner of Finance said that staff from the 11 local government and the state has been captured in the data base and would be monitored closely.

The state civil service mop up would continue to ensure no one left behind for both state and local government.
