The National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, in its quest to stamp out the growing concerns of drug abuse in Katsina State, has attributed winning the war to effective, efficient, and robust synergy with other sister law enforcement agencies.

The Katsina State Commander of the NDLEA, Sule Momodu, who said this during his visit to some of the major law enforcement agencies in the state, said the agency under his watch will continue to fight drug abuse to a standstill.

Determined to effectively fight the rising cases of drug abuse in Katsina State which negatively have an impact on the banditry faced in the state, the NDLEA had gone all out to seek synergy with other sister law enforcement agencies.

Agencies visited by the Commander and his men include the Department of State Security Services, Nigerian Immigration Service, Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, Nigeria Customs Service, and the Nigeria Correctional Services.

At the meetings, the Commander educated the different officers and men on the dangers of drug abuse, to themselves, as well as the effect it has on the economy, and security of the state and nation at large, hence, the need for effective and efficient synergy.

The lectures also included showing to the officers and men the different modes of concealment of drugs by traffickers to beat the law enforcement agents.

Both the Acting Customs Area Comptroller, Deputy Comptroller Dalha Wada, and his Nigeria Correctional Services counterpart, Abdulmumin Haruna, pledged their support for the fight against drug abuse.

Similarly, in a bid to ensure the state is safe from drug abuse, officers and men of the NDLEA conducted days of sting operations on some black spots and criminal hideouts within the metropolis, where several suspected drug abusers, their collaborators, and major suppliers were smoked out.

The exercise according to Momodu, is to pass a message across that it is no longer business as usual.

The Katsina State Commander of the NDLEA further added that in the coming days, the same message of synergy will be preached to other agencies saddled with enforcing laws in the land.
